Note: we are recruiting for a permanent cafe worker, with possible seasonal events work available.
Overview
We’re looking for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic team member to join our small but busy café in Wimborne. If you’re passionate about great food and drinks, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and love providing excellent customer service, we’d love to hear from you! The vast majority of your work will be in our Café team, preparing and serving food and drinks, handling payments, washing up, and ensuring the café remains a clean and welcoming space. There may also be occasional opportunities to work at our weddings and events, where duties include setting up spaces, serving food and drinks, and maintaining cleanliness. Not everyone employed through this process will work at weddings and events, but preference will be given to those who show a keen interest and suitability for that environment.

Experience in a café or hospitality setting is a bonus, but full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities*
Café
Process sales at the till, take customer orders, and handle payments.
Prepare and serve hot and cold food to a high standard.
Make drinks using a coffee machine.
Wash up, clear tables, and carry out general cleaning to maintain a tidy and welcoming café (e.g., sweeping floors, mopping spills).
Use your initiative to keep things running smoothly during busy periods.
Wedding & Events (Possibly, by agreement in advance)
Setting up event areas (furniture, décor, etc.)
Serve food and beverages
Light food and drinks preparation
Washing up and general cleaning (e.g., sweeping floors, mopping spills)
Following instructions from the Event Management or Supervisory Team
*Additional duties may be assigned as appropriate for casual work.
Working Hours
Tuesdays: 09:15 until approx. 16:30
Saturdays: 09:00 until approx. 16:30 / 17:00
As part of a ‘settling-in period’, we can offer flexibility between now and the end of August as we can work with our pool of casual seasonal staff. However, from September onwards, you must be available to commit to the advertised working pattern.
Wages
Age 21 and Over
£12.50/hour
Age Under 21
Café
£10.50/hour if aged 18, 19, or 20
£8.00/hour if aged 17 and under
Weddings & Events
£10.50/hour if you have less than one ‘summer season’ experience with Deans Court Events/Weddings
£11.50/hour if you have at least one ‘summer season’ experience with Deans Court Events/Weddings
Other Benefits
Holiday Pay is paid as ‘rolled-up holiday pay’ at a rate of 12.07% of your gross wages each week (no holiday pay in weeks where no work is performed).
Pension auto-enrolment rules apply. If enrolled, your contributions will be matched up to 5%.

2. If offered employment, you will receive:
• A welcome email
• A digital contract to sign
• An invite to a Training Day
• A link to our Employee Handbook
• A copy of our GDPR statement for employment
• A request for proof of your right to work in the UK (usually a copy of your passport)
• A request for your National Insurance number, bank details, and any additional payroll information
4. If you accept our invitation, on the Training Day day we’ll cover our Employee Handbook, Health and Safety procedures, and some role-specific training. Please note we’ll need to see your original passport on this day for verification purposes.
