“We hired Apple and Plum for our wedding weekend and we could not have been happier. Welcome eggs, bread, little gifts and fresh flowers were so lovely and it was like hiring a little piece of English history for the time we were there. “Our fourth time here and it definitely wont be the last, I honestly cant think of anywhere better to spend a few days and unwind. Speaking personally, as an expat of 40 years with close ties to Upton House, the ambience as I walk through the gate always takes me back to a very special place, although my children and Norwegian grandchildren love it too. “Our second visit, just as relaxing as the first. Such a wonderful location, walk through the gates and you could be miles from anywhere but so close to the town with the very interesting shops. All the extras on arrival made it feel so special. Immense gratitude to Dusty the dog who entertained our retriever when neither of us could walk very far and to Ali who made so an effort to help us out. We love being here, so close to the town centre and yet you feel like you are in the middle of the English countryside it's so quiet. “Our two families stayed across Apple and Plum cottages for our wedding weekend in June 2024. What an idyllic, beautiful spot. The cottages are amazing, kitted out with everything you need for the weekend. The tea/coffee, biscuits, bread, egg and milk on our arrival was such a wonderful gesture. We spent so much of our weekend outside in the beautiful gardens sitting in the sunshine. Regular visits from Dusty the dog who is such a friendly soul was heartwarming. Plum Cottage

Lovely peaceful surroundings and minutes to the gorgeous market town with its quirky shops. Dusty has become a regular visitor and gives us a little bark in the morning to be let it he’s so cute and loves to run around with our dogs. “We had a fabulous weekend stay at The Gate House for our school reunion. It was a very special weekend as it’s more than 40 years since we left school and we hadn’t seen one of our friends since we were 16 and another lives in Tasmania so we were very excited to get together! The house was perfect, beautifully decorated, cosy yet spacious and a perfect location to walk, chat, shop, eat, drink and relax in the homely surroundings. All of us very much loved the house and we were made especially welcome by the bread, butter, jam, eggs and very good Prosecco! “The Gate House was the perfect setting for a family gathering to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. The accommodation is outstanding with so many thoughtful extras such as the little butter pats so carefully wrapped. Our party included 3 generations and there was plenty to occupy us all. I think we used pretty much all the facilities, including the AGA! We were blessed with wonderful weather so were able to make good use of the enclosed garden but we noted the many board games, books etc that could be used. From the beginning of the booking stage right through to our farewells, the whole team have been truly wonderful. We felt it was not only really efficient, but also friendly and personal.
