Café & Seasonal Events Staff
Overview
Join our team at Deans Court, where you’ll primarily work at our Weddings and Events, with occasional opportunities to work in our Café. The vast majority of the work will be in our events team, setting up spaces, serving (and possibly light preparation of) food and drinks, washing up, and ensuring event areas remain clean and tidy. A smaller portion of our staff may be selected to work in the Café, where your duties would include processing sales and a higher level of food and drink preparation. Not everyone employed through this process will work in the Café; preference will be given to those who show a keen interest and suitability for that environment.
Key Responsibilities*
Wedding & Events
Setting up event areas (furniture, décor, table settings, etc.)
Serve food and beverages
Light food and drinks preparation
Washing up and general cleaning (e.g., sweeping floors, mopping spills)
Following instructions from the Event Management or Supervisory Team
Café (Optional for Selected Staff)
Process sales at the till
Prepare hot and cold beverages
Serve and assist customers with their orders
Carry out basic food preparation
Maintain a clean and tidy working environment
*Additional duties may be assigned as appropriate for casual work.
Working Hours
Zero-Hour Contract
Your hours will be irregular and vary according to the needs of the business.
Typical Shifts
Wedding Afternoon Shift: Approximately 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Wedding / Events Evening Shift: Approximately 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
Cafe Shifts: Approx. 09:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Shifts generally last around six or seven hours, usually on weekends, but can vary based on requirements.
Finish times for weddings and events may vary depending on the needs of the event.
Wages
Age 21 and Over
£13.00/hour
Age Under 21
Weddings & Events
£11.00/hour during your first summer season while gaining experience with the Deans Court Events Team
£12.00/hour if you are returning for subsequent summer seasons
Café
£11.00/hour if aged 18, 19, or 20
£8.50/hour if aged 17 and under
(To be clear, different rates apply to Weddings & Events and Café shifts.)
Other Benefits
Holiday pay is provided as rolled-up holiday pay at 12.07% of your gross wages, paid at the same time as your wages. Holiday pay is only accrued and paid when work is performed.
Pension auto-enrolment rules apply. If enrolled, your contributions will be matched up to 5%.
Recruitment Process
1. Complete Our Availability Form: Please fill in the availability form linked below. Everyone who completes the form will be invited to our Recruitment Day.
2. Recruitment Day (Tuesday 7th April 2026 - Easter Holidays): During the Recruitment Day, you’ll learn more about us, and we’ll have the chance to get to know you. After this session, we will select candidates to be invited to join our team.
3. Offer & Onboarding: If selected, you will receive:
• A welcome email
• A digital contract to sign
• An invite to our Training Day
• A link to our Employee Handbook
• A copy of our GDPR statement for employment
• A request for proof of your right to work in the UK (usually a copy of your passport)
• A request for your National Insurance number, bank details, and any other payroll information required
4. Training Day (Date to be confirmed): If you accept our offer, your Training Day will cover our Employee Handbook, Health & Safety procedures, and role-specific training. Please note: We will need to see your original passport on this day for right-to-work verification.
